Time: 7:00 pm

Join us at The Gnu's Room this Thursday at 7 p.m. for an open mic poetry event and a reading by poet Lindsay Doukopolous. Each open mic poet may read one medium-length poem or two short poems (about two pages in total). The event is free but we'll request donations to pay the featured poet. Remember that there's additional parking in the lot at the corner of Samford and College. ABOUT THE FEATURED POET: Lindsay Doukopoulos holds a Ph.D. in creative writing from the University of Southern Mississippi and teaches at Auburn University. She has published widely in multiple genres and has been nominated for Pushcart Prizes for both poetry and fiction. She has a short play published in Best American Short Plays 2010–2011. Her poetry manuscript, The Josephine Letters, was a finalist for the Walt Whitman Award, and she has poetry published recently, or forthcoming, from Word Riot, West Branch, African American Review, Gulf Stream, and The Southeast Review. This year she co-led a community poetry workshop at the Auburn Public Library thanks to a grant from the office of Community and Civic Engagement.
